    Grilled Vegetable Leftover Rice Salad

It’s hot. It’s hot. It’s hot. Yes, I know it is the middle of July in Louisiana, but it is HOT. With the heat index it reached 107* today. In fact, my phone alerted me twice today with the heat

    Leftover Cheese Dressing

    Leftover Cheese Dressing

Cheese, my soul mate. I’ve actually NEVER met a piece of cheese I didn’t like. No wait, there is one-cottage cheese. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it is delicious once I could ever get past the texture factor. But

    Leftover Bread Italian Salad

Sometimes it really is the little things that make days brighter, little tea sandwiches, that is, for meย  I don’t know what it is about little tea sandwiches that make me happy. Is it the dainty feel of them that

    Pass the Beer Vinaigrette

    Pass the Beer Vinaigrette

It’s the middle of Mardi Gras season and that means beer. Come to think of it, guess there are a few “beer” seasons. Got to count football and crawfish, too. I grew up in New Orleans and spent many Mardi

Have leftover Easter eggs? EAT them!! Did you know throwing away ONE egg is wasting ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฑ ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, equivalent to leaving your kitchen faucet running for ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ! Crazy, so it'd be crazy not to enjoy a batch of deviled eggs, scotch eggs or potato or egg salad. Hard boiled eggs also make for quick and easy breakfast protein bowls, too. Feeling indulgent? Make good old-fashioned creamed eggs on toast and top with caviar! #useitup #dontwastefood #leftovermakeover #eastereggs
Need a quick way to enjoy #nationalsloppyjoeday today? Use those leftover baked beans (or even grab a can). Simply brown ground beef, chicken, turkey, or tofu crumbles and mix in baked beans until heated. I like to add diced tomatoes, too. Put mixture on toasted buns. Enjoy! #sloppyjoe #sloppyjoeday #foodwastetip #leftovermakeover
A little bit of veggie pasta and 2 slices of garlic bread from last night's dinner becomes a happy hour appetizer today. I love using leftover spaghetti or any pasta dish to make quick I add the pasta and a garlic clove (because can there ever be enough garlic?!) to a processor, blend with some cream cheese until smooth. Spread it onto the leftover garlic bread slices, top with a little mozzarella cheese, and bake for 15 minutes at 375*. Perfect accompaniment to a glass of chianti! #leftoverpasta #gottaloveleftovers #leftovermakeover
Leftover ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐˜€? Add to ๐›๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข! Donโ€™t waste those few remaining onion rings. Put leftover rings into processor and pulse into crumbs. Crumble over fresh broccoli tossed with olive oil. Bake in 425 degree oven for 10 minutes or until tender. #leftovermakeover #foodwastetip #onionrings #broccoli
Move over chicken noodle soup...you have been replaced with Crawfish Noodle Soup. Another cold and rainy day in Louisiana, lucky for me it's also crawfish season, which means ๐ฅ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ญ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐œ๐ซ๐š๐ฐ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก tails and crawfish shell stock in the freezer at the ready! Anyone else like me and prefer a higher noodle to stock ratio in a soup? #leftovermakeover #crawfishtime #louisianaseafood #crawfishtails
What a fun cook-a-long I had this afternoon with Chef Gabby of @cooking.on.wheels for Rare Disease Day. Did you know 1 in 10 Americans have a rare disease? I didn't, I learned that today from @globalgenes while cooking. Thanks to @rachaelray for her Chicken Ragu recipe and for kicking off the cook-a-long with these great words, "Sharing food and love with each other no matter how far apart is who we are." So true in these times and I was grateful to share my time this afternoon in my favorite place, the kitchen, with friends some known and some new. Now...to dig into dinner! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Wearing my stripes! ๐Ÿฆ“ #rarediseaseday #nationalrarediseaseday #cookalong #cookingbenefit
